The time of year we focus on being thankful has settled upon us.  Have you thought lately about what you are grateful for?  Do you know why this exercise so important?  Because it reminds us that there are positives in this world even in the face of adversity.  When we focus our attention on what we appreciate, our blessings, what we hold dear to our hearts, we can’t help but feel a sense of peace and contentment.  Gratitude melts away resentment, envy, longing for the things we do not or cannot have.  Gratitude grounds us in the here and now.

So, what are you grateful for?  Family?  Friends?  A home cooked meal? Your job?  Nature?  The deer passing through your backyard?  The sound of children laughing?  The click-clack of your pet’s nails on the floor?  Chocolate?  As my niece stated, “People who use deodorant?”

I urge you to take a few moments this week and really think about what you are thankful for.  Big or small.  It all matters.  I leave you with a lovely quote…

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what
we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into
acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can
turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger
into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings
peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~ Melody Beattie

The Calli Institute wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
