LGBTQIA+ is the acronym used to identify Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Other. People who identify as LGBTQIA+ may come to therapy for a variety of issues, both related and unrelated to gender or sexuality. While many providers are now more informed and comfortable with LGBTQIA+ individuals, they often lack the ability to affirm, be aware, and approach things from a queer lens. Our therapists are passionate about working with this community. They have engaged in additional training and experiences that inform their practice, and help LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. Whether you come out early or later in life, have family of origin or family of choice issues, our therapists provide a non-judgmental, safe space to help you overcome the systemic and interpersonal barriers in the way of your goals.
Issues we commonly see include:
- Coming Out Process
- Family Problems
- Gender or Sexual Identity Exploration
- Same-Sex Relationship Issues
- Parenting Healthy LGBTQIA+ Children
- LGBTQIA+ Awareness and Pronoun Training
- Workplace issues
- Coping with Microaggressions
