Heather is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a background in nursing. She has over 17 years of combined professional experience working in medical and mental health settings providing education, counseling, and therapy to patients and their families. Her experience and education provide added insight into how physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and relational issues impact a person's well-being. As a therapist, her style is calm, supportive, and caring. She believes therapy is most effective when people develop a trusting relationship with their therapist and feel safe to be themselves.

Heather's approach to therapy is competency-based and includes being attentive to people as a whole. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to the unique needs of each client. With compassion and understanding, Heather works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing while in therapy.  In her work, she draws primarily from attachment-based, family systems, neurobiological, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. She has been formally trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and Adaptive Internal Relational (AIR) Network Therapy.

Heather has professional experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, couple, family, and group settings around a variety of concerns including: relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adolescent transition issues, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociation, trauma recovery, life transitions/adjustments, issues unique to women, low self-esteem, chronic/terminal health issues, divorce transition, and spiritual issues. Heather is an LGBTQ affirming therapist who works with youth and adults around sexual orientation and gender identity. She has experience supporting and providing therapy for transgender clients who are transitioning.
