Prior to pursuing a career in mental health, Tess earned her B.A. in Communications with an emphasis on Oral Presentations from Boston University, and had an exciting career in food media. Tess decided to "pivot" professionally after a childhood's worth of therapy for somatic issues was, in fact, better explained by chronic medical condition. Having experienced the disappointment and hurt that can result from bad therapy, Tess works hard to maintain a positive therapeutic relationship with her clients.
Tess earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University, and is working towards full licensure under the supervision of Cathy Malmon, LICSW, LMFT. Before her time at Calli, Tess worked in school and group-home settings, accumulating more than five years of experience in the mental health field. Tess also has experience working with incarcerated populations, and providing culturally sensitive therapy.
Tess describes her style as: transparent, collaborative, and experiential, incorporating a bit of humor and "real talk" into each session. Tess' specialties include: LGBTQIA+, ADHD and School Issues, Adolescents, Emerging Adulthood/Failure to Launch, Parenting Issues, Family Conflict, Blended Families, Couple's Counseling, and Chronic Health Issues. Tess holds professional certifications in Emotional First Aid and Prepare and Enrich. In addition to individual and family therapy, Tess provides group therapy, offers an Accelerated Therapy Model, does public speaking and consultation, as well as writes about issues related to mental health.
When not at work, Tess enjoys cooking, kayaking, and spending time with her family of choice.
